The challenge
Furesø Municipality has a clear ambition: to become carbon-neutral by 2030 and carbon-negative by 2035. To achieve this goal, the municipality is working systematically to reduce energy consumption across both new and existing buildings, including schools, sports halls, and swimming pools. Energy-intensive facilities such as swimming pools are a particular focus, as they offer significant opportunities for reducing emissions when energy use is managed intelligently.
The solution
To optimise energy consumption and reduce its carbon footprint, Furesø Municipality has invested in a battery solution from VisBlue. The flow battery makes it possible to store electricity when it is both inexpensive and renewable, and use it when grid electricity is more expensive and the grid is under greater strain. Combined with a solar installation on the roof of the swimming pool, the municipality gains a flexible and future-proof energy solution.

The result
Furesø Municipality gains greater control over energy consumption at the swimming pool while actively contributing to the municipality’s climate goals. At the same time, the municipality has chosen a solution free of lithium and cobalt, placing a strong emphasis on safety, long service life, and recyclability.
