The challenge
Strandskolen in Risskov is Denmark’s first and only Global Goals School, and that comes with a responsibility. The school works actively with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals and aims to make sustainability an integral part of everyday life for both students and staff.
To make these ambitions tangible, the school needed a concrete and visible solution that could engage students in the green transition while supporting their work with the Sustainable Development Goals and particularly Goal 7, Affordable and Clean Energy.
The solution
With a flow battery from VisBlue, Strandskolen has gained a green energy solution that not only stores electricity from the school’s solar panels but also serves as an educational tool. The battery is housed in a glass enclosure on the school grounds, allowing students to observe how energy is stored and used. In the classroom, the school also uses a smaller battery prototype to give students insight into how technology can help address global challenges.

The result
VisBlue’s battery solution not only supports the school’s energy ambitions but also brings sustainability directly into the classroom. Students at Strandskolen now have the opportunity to see, experience, and understand how green technology works in practice and how they themselves can help shape a more sustainable future.
