The challenge
Solar panels generate electricity when the sun is shining, typically in the middle of the day when tenants are not at home to use it. Without energy storage, surplus electricity is quickly exported to the grid, and tenants end up buying it back at higher prices in the evening. This results in both financial and energy waste.
The solution
By connecting the solar installation to a flow battery, renewable electricity can be stored and used when demand is highest. This results in lower electricity costs, better utilisation of the solar panels, and a more stable energy supply, without the risk of fire or explosion that can be associated with other battery technologies.
”It makes sense in every way to store energy in a flow battery. We save money while at the same time strengthening Vivabolig’s sustainability profile.”
