The challenge
At KEA, future energy technologists, installers, and specialists are educated to drive and support the green transition in Denmark. To provide students with the best possible preparation, KEA wanted a practical solution that could be integrated into teaching while also supporting the institution’s own sustainable energy operations.
The solution
KEA has invested in a flow battery from VisBlue that both stores electricity from the institution’s solar panels and forms part of the teaching programme. The battery ensures that surplus solar energy is not wasted, but instead stored and used intelligently when demand is highest, serving both operational needs and as a practical learning tool.
"We want to ensure that future installers and energy technologists gain hands-on experience with the technologies that will shape a greener Denmark. The flow battery makes that possible."
— Jens Højmann, Lecturer, KEA
The result
With the flow battery, KEA students gain access to the latest energy storage technology, which is expected to play an increasingly important role in future energy systems. At the same time, KEA is taking another step towards more sustainable energy consumption and demonstrating how the green transition begins in the classroom.
