The challenge
Mocca Master, known for its high quality coffee machines, has taken active steps to make its production more sustainable. Based in Næstved, the company wanted to integrate solar energy and energy storage into its operations, not only to achieve financial benefits, but also to take responsibility for the climate and the future.
Objectives
- Reduce the company’s climate footprint
- Integrate solar energy and energy storage into production
- Take a strategic approach to sustainability across operations and decision-making
- Create meaningful change, even when there is no immediate financial return
Mocca Master wanted to reduce its CO₂ footprint, but faced a familiar challenge: how could it make efficient use of solar energy, even when the sun was not shining? An analysis showed that investing in a battery would not deliver an immediate financial return. Nevertheless, the company remained committed to finding a solution that could support its sustainability ambitions.
The solution
Mocca Master chose to install a VisBlue solution, enabling the company to store electricity generated by its solar panels and use it when energy is needed most. The flexibility and scalability of the flow battery made it possible to integrate energy storage into production without compromising safety or sustainability.
The result
Mocca Master achieved a more flexible and environmentally responsible energy supply, even without an immediate financial return on investment. By investing in the VisBlue solution, the company sent a strong message both internally and externally: sustainability and responsibility are core values that are actively put into practice.
