Unbiased, complete solar charging of a neutral flow battery by a single si photocathode
8 February 2018
This article discusses attempts to develop aqueous flow batteries storing solar energy, and these regard solar charge depth, efficiency of solar conversion, and capacity of the battery electrolyte. Furthermore, the article presents a new strategy within redox flow batteries for solar energy, which has the purpose of realising the energy storage capacity of such a device to the full.
Data on flow cell optimization
for membrane-based
electrokinetic energy conversion
December 2017
This article presents how an optimised flow cell can be converted into electrical energy. Here two parameters are investigated; the first is a hydraulic pressure profile, and the latter is the electrical resistance across the flow cell.
Differential pH as a method for increasing cell potential in organic aqueous flow batteries
9 October 2017
This article discusses the power, energy density, and cycle efficiency of high battery cell potentials in flow batteries. Furthermore, the article presents a demonstration of a flow battery with a differential pH.
Organic redox species in aqueous
flow batteries: redox potentials,
chemical stability and solubility
14 December 2016
This article presents the idea of using organic molecules as redox species in redox flow batteries. These molecules are investigated and discussed in terms of solubility, stability, and their redox potential. Furthermore, the article deals with the challenges that arise with a redox flow battery that is completely organic.
Unbiased solar energy storage:
photoelectrochemical redox flow battery
22 February 2016
This article deals with a proposal for how to store solar energy, that originates from converted sunlight into electrochemical energy in a redox flow battery (RFB).
Direct solar charging of an
organic–inorganic, stable, and
aqueous alkaline redox flow battery
with a hematite photoanode
2016
This article presents the idea of energy storage from intermittent sunlight, and the direct charging of a redox flow battery. Furthermore, the article deals with a description of the electrolytes used, along with photovoltage enhancement strategies.
Solar charged redox flow battery
2016
This article presents the idea of energy storage from intermittent energy sources. Furthermore, the article deals with a description of flow battery electrolytes, and the photoelectrochemical charging process, which is possible utilising inexpensive and safe materials.
